It had served its purpose and now it was sagging and uncomfortable. We had a good run but it was time to get a new mattress. My once comfy mattress had me constantly tossing and turning trying to find a comfortable spot.

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.

One sleepless night, I found myself fixated on a Sleep Number® bed commercial. It advertised that with the press of a button on a remote control, this high-tech mattress would allow an individual to sleep comfortably. Just by increasing or decreasing the numbers on the remote, a person can arrive at the perfect number setting.

Although there are times when a worn mattress makes it difficult to sleep, it is not the only cause for a restless night. Sometimes the cares and pressures of this world can hamper our relaxation. However, no matter what we are facing, there are numbers we can select that will adjust our thoughts allowing us to focus on the One who is in control.

God has given me numerous settings I can choose. For instance, when I am feeling uneasy, my number is 26:3. Isaiah 26:3 reminds me that God will keep me in perfect peace when my mind is stayed on Him. Sometimes by number setting is 29:11. Jeremiah 29:11 ensures me that God has a plan for my life.
