My daughter Faith is now a chatterbox! She loves to talk and copy whatever word she hears. Surprisingly, there is one particular word that she is not willing to say. In spite of all my effort to use different techniques to coach and encourage her, she would not say the word "Mommy". Every time I say "Mommy", she would say "Baby" instead. If I utter the word "Mommy" a dozen times, she will most likely answer me back with a dozen of "Baby". At first I felt sad and disappointed because like many other mothers, my desire to hear my child's sweet voice calling me is so great. But then as I looked deeper in that situation, I have come to realize that there is a much valuable message behind it. Despite of my daughter's innocence, she could sense the truth that a mother and a baby is considered one. Neither of them will ever be complete without the other and that's exactly the message of my daughter's behavior. Me and Faith are one and we would stick together no matter what. Our love for each other has created a precious bond that could never break. A Mother and her child are simply inseparable. Physically, I may be miles away from my own mother but we are always connected with that same precious bond.

"Mother and her child are simply inseparable"

In the Bible, we witness that kind of special bond between mothers and their children. One of them is Ruth and her mother in law Naomi. Ruth decided to stay with her until the end. She told Naomi “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us" (Ruth 1:16-17). Hannah is also a significant character from the Bible. She is the mother of Samuel the prophet. Hannah persistently prayed for Samuel's birth and had promised God that she would dedicate Samuel to Him. Samuel became a man of God and Hannah continuously prayed for him (1 Samuel 1-2). Our Blessed Mother Mary is also a perfect example of a good and loving mother. She submitted wholeheartedly to the will and plan of God for her to become the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 1-2). It comes with a great responsibility but she remains faithful up to the end.

Mothers were created by God with a sole purpose. . to be entrusted with every precious child of His. Mother is for baby, baby is for mother. And my baby Faith knows it very well. What a great honor to be a Mother!
