So who is Jesus Christ, really? Is He a snake oil salesman fostering “miracles” through the power of Satan (Mark 3:22-30) as the religious leaders claimed? Or is He, in fact, God Himself in human form (John 1:1-14)? According to today’s passage, He is the express image of God the Father, the firstborn over all of us. He created everything that exists in the heavenlies, as well as on this planet we call earth. All that we can see, and all we cannot, were created by Him, and all of it was made for His pleasure and purpose. For me, the choice is clear. Jesus is, was, and always has been God, the second member of the Trinity, the earthly form of God Himself to live and move among us for a time so that He might know and understand us as weak mortals. And He experienced everything we did, yet without sin. Our best friend in the entire world knows and understands everything we go through because He, too, has gone through them right along with us.

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.”
