Revelation 21:3-4
I heard a song once, with a sweet, haunting phrase - "Let's go to sleep and wake up yesterday."
Yesterday - a former time, that lovingly tugs at the heart and mind.
Yesterday I was young, and life was a song that had yet to be sung.
And today, as good as it may be, can not compete with a memory.
However; I have never wanted to return or stay, in my best remembered yesterday.
I know that as intriguing as it may be; there is no returning to yesterday, except through memory.
Then from somewhere, to my mind, a deeper meaning began to unwind.
We who are Christians don't die - we simply go to sleep and wake up in God's by and by.
We go to sleep and wake up yesterday; before all life's pain and sorrow came our way.
We go to sleep and wake up to God's original plan; before sin entered into the heart of man.
It is paradise restored; it is beyond our earthly ways; it is the greatest of all yesterdays.
Thank God, although we go to sleep in pain and sorrow, we wake to something better than tomorrow.
Thank God, for this glorious way - of going to sleep and waking up yesterday.
