1 Peter 5:8, Ephesians 6:12
Somewhere in my hazy memory I remember singing a song called Onward Christian Soldier. I haven’t heard that song sung for decades. The idea is that the Christian is involved with a war. The war takes place in the heavenlies and has an affect here on earth.
The Apostle Peter wrote in 1 Peter 5:8 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Christian soldier, the fact remains the devil and all his host never falls asleep. He continually seek to devour someone. A shepherd must never be careless and unwatchful lest the wolf devour his sheep, So the Christian Soldier must always have his eyes wide open.
The entire life of a Christian Soldier it's being, intention, application and action are all dependent on its being a life of prayer. Without prayer, no matter what else he has, the Christmas Soldier will be feeble and effective and making them easy prey for his spiritual enemies.
God's people constitute an army fighting to establish His kingdom on the Earth. Their aim is to destroy the sovereignty of Satan, and over it’s ruins erect the Kingdom of God.
Paul’s letter to the Ephesians makes this clear in chapter 6 verse 12 it says:
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Our world, dear Christian seems to be unraveling at the seams. We need to fight with more diligence. Pray, pray, and pray some more.

Please forgive my “typo,” the Christmas Soldier, should read the Christian soldier. I was using text to speech and didn’t proofread.
