If you could choose a day of the week that gets a lot of press, it would probably be FRIDAY. Mostly, the press would be positive….as it is viewed as a welcome launch pad for the weekend. Today is BLACK FRIDAY, the day after Thanksgiving where positive press abounds, and shoppers (except me) flock to the stores to find pre-Christmas bargains (and sometimes end up in fights of greed!). How ironic it is, that after setting aside a day to be thankful for what we have, the next day promotes thinking about what we DON’T have! It reminds me of the above verse. How futile to strive over “things” that don’t last! I am not just pointing my fingers at others, as I also struggle with being content with what I have. Yesterday, I found myself mourning over some of the losses I've experienced this past year. It is humbling to read the following words written by Paul….from PRISON!

Your love showed itself on another Friday long ago; A very Black Friday now called Good Friday

Not that I am referring to being in need; for I have learned to be content with whatever I have. I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. - Phil. 4:11

Lord, help me to count my blessings each day and not my losses. I am grateful for what You have provided, and your promises that never leave me. You have been my rock in the past and You are my promised rock for the future. Your love showed itself on another Friday long ago…A very Black Friday now called Good Friday…that was not only the launching pad for an amazing weekend, but a miraculous eternity with You in heaven! “How can I say thanks, for the things You have done for me…?”
