1 Corinthians 2: 9
The first time I heard Ken pray, awareness that he was the man for me gripped my soul. A single mom for some time, I suddenly realized how I was starving for male spiritual leadership.
The Lord knew I needed tenderness, kindness, a happy disposition and an affectionate loving spouse to encourage me. But, He knew my greatest need was for a man who first loved Him and would lead me and our family in faith.
Some time ago, an interview and song touched me with beauty of the lyrics expressing his wife’s cry…lead me. The composer realized if indeed he was to fulfill his God-given role, then he had to cry out, “Lead me, Lord.” For without the Lord guiding his thoughts, decisions and actions, how could he ever lead his wife and family?
We are two very different personalities. Ken is laid back and I am an idea/solution person. So it can be a challenge for me to say “Lead me.” But, it’s not a contradiction; rather it has been the way God has chosen to refine us.
Our life verse, 1 Corinthians 2:9 still beats a steady rhythm in our hearts, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
My prayer is “Lead me, please, as you are being led.” Selah
