There’s nothing like hearing young voices sing God’s praises. With their eyes lit up and brilliant smiles, it’s evident that truth and beauty have reached their hearts.
While leading music in various settings, I have watched how a child’s face is illuminated when they stop learning words only and absorb the message of the song.
Suddenly, it’s not just about singing it right, remembering the words, and trying to forget their stage fright. It’s about letting the beauty of the Lord bubble up, over and out lifting up God’s truth while they feel it deep within their souls.
Pure joy!
Accompanying motions may lend a creative flair. Other times, the children know to sing a quiet, sacred song in hushed tones.
Every song gives the opportunity for children to understand that God deserves to be praised. Through teaching a song we can share that He is our Creator. Everything we can see and can’t see is made by Him…all the animals and people. He is Lord and in control and we can trust Him no matter what.
Psalm 149: 1 says, “Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song…Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.”
Jesus loves all the children of the world…and the grown-ups, too. So let’s sing His praises! Selah
