People are always judging others, and Christians, I’m sorry to say, are some of the worst. After all, we expect a certain standard of Christians, right? And yet somehow, we can always find fault. I think part of the problem, too, is we have too many people masquerading as “Christians” in our churches, and this throws us off as well. Paul asks the Romans why they judge and show contempt for brothers in Christ. After all, we will all stand before God’s judgment seat to be rewarded according to our works here. Our accounting is really only to be to God alone, not to any other person, Christian or otherwise. We are not answerable to fellow believers unless an act is being committed expressly dealt with in scripture, and there are many listed there covering a wide range of issues. So we are told—don’t judge each other anymore, and don’t set up stones of stumbling in our fellow Christians’ way. Instead of judging, let’s reach out to other believers in Christ and try and help them to walk in the way God would have them walk and not cause further issues for them by judging.

“But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written: ‘As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.’ So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.”
