Hebrews 3:7-8
Can hard-hearted people hear the voice of God? Not very likely. No matter what is causing hardness of heart, any hardness blocks communion with God. We haven’t lost our salvation, only the fellowship which we share with God when we are in right standing with Him. This passage was written to Jewish Christians to remind them of what their ancestors did—constant rebellion against God, hence, they lost contact with Him while they pursued unsanctioned wars, idol worship, and heinous sins of all kinds. Let’s make sure our heart is soft and yielded to Him so that we, unlike rebellious ancient Israel and those even today, so that we, too, can hear His voice above all the tumult.
