My friend from Bible study found a house she was interested in after looking around for seven years. As she looked for a place to live, I reflected on the fact that we are each the Holy Spirit’s dwelling. Ephesians 3:17 says that Christ dwells in our hearts through faith. Thankfully, God does not look for the perfect house beforehand. In fact, God comes into the most dilapidated shacks, tears them down, and starts over. 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares that we are a New Creation, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” The Holy Spirit never decides to upgrade or downgrade to a different house. However, God is a “Do It Yourself-er”. He alone remodels, updates, decorates and supports our hearts to better reflect Him and His son. All we have to do, by grace, is to be “sold” to Jesus.
