Exodus 14:10, 13-16
ENEMIES
“As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them.
They were terrified and cried out to the LORD……..Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. (Exodus 14:10, 13-16)
What/who are the enemies that terrify us? The ones that awake us at 3:00 a.m. Rob us of peace. Be they real or imagined - disease, fear of ill health, death, abandonment, loneliness, insignificance, joblessness, financial poverty, insignificance - name them. Cry out to the Lord about them. Name each and every one of them. Tell Him why they terrorize us.
Then fix your minds/hearts, not on those enemies of the soul, but on God, the Keeper of our souls. Stop jabbering about the "what ifs". Quiet. Be still. Realize/be aware/remember/know that God is with us. And that He is God Almighty, Covenant-Maker, the Promise-Keeper. “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Now listen to what He has to say to us. What He wants us to do next. How He will direct us. Don't be cowed or paralyzed by fear. Lift them up to the Lord. Bring before Him those seemingly insurmountable obstacles that confront us.
Then watch and see what happens. Trust God. Trust in Him. Watch and see how He will provide His way through the obstacles/problems/issues. Watch how He wants to lead us. How He wants us to follow. Take one step at a time forward. He promises to lead us from that which terrorize us to Himself who holds us strongly and solidly in His arms. Rest in His Presence. Revel in His everlasting love.
Shalom.
