LORD, YOU STAYED WITH ME

Like a loyal friend, you stayed with me
when my life hung by a thread.
Lord, you gave me strength to carry on
when life was slipping away.
When I was taking my last breath, Lord,
you held my hand and led me back.
Now that I'm back amongst the living,
what is your plan for me, my Lord?
I feel joy in my heart for you, Lord,
so why do I hold that joy back?
You've been with me my entire life
as my shadow day and night.
Your presence was as tangible
as fresh water in the stream,
and both brought me peace of mind.
Let's have a talk, you and I, myLord,
like I do before I bless the night goodbye.
I know you'll never leave my side, Lord
'cause you're the light and breath
that make me smile through the journey.

A LIVING MIRACLE
I never once imagined
I'd be close to death,
and still be here, my heart beating again.
I still amaze those who cared for me,
but HE was the leading hand.
Even after I'd survived the worst,
or so I thought, fate proved me wrong,
and death whispered to me a few more times.
God never let go of my hand,
and I kept fighting for my life;
I'd been through many close-calls before,
getting through another one
seemed like a breeze, thanks to God
who insisted I should live.
The only thing I wonder is,
what's my purpose in this world?
Will I be a better person or
will I go back to the former me?
There are no regrets about my past
for I lived the best I could.
I did look for justice where
it was nowhere to be found,
and that was my greatest flaw.
Now I still enjoy the little
things the great Lord
greets me with each new day,
a butterfly, a hummingbird,
a memory of my childhood,
and memories of motherhood.

HAIKU
I never doubted
because I knew you were there
watching over me.

TANKA
I felt your shadow
by my side each step I took
always guiding me
securing my path ahead
and never leaving my side.
