Good Morning beloved,

It was a time of good tidings, just as it is today, in this season of Christmas

Read and Meditate on 2 Kings 7:9-11

Reflection after Reading:

Where is the love?

The scripture reading of today tells us how four lepers went into the camp of The Arameans, found it empty with all valuables left in it, and instead of just taking all for themselves they eventually decided to inform their King.

What is remarkable about these men one might ask? What's the big deal if they tell their King? They couldn't take everything for themselves could they?
Now there was great famine in Samaria, so great that people had begun to eat their children (2 kings 6:28-29). Imagine then the condition of these lepers for they were poor and considered outcasts. They stayed by the city gates begging from people coming in and out of Samaria. They were certain of their death from starvation, so desperate were they that they decided to go to the camp of the Arameans who were at war with Samaria; they knew they would be pitied or killed, either way it was better to take the risk than stay in one place and wait for death.
These lepers like many of us did not know that The Lord was already working in the background, before they got there, the Arameans fled because they heard a great noise; of horses and chariots which was of The Lords doing (2 King 7:6).
These lepers met an empty camp with everything they could ever desire, being the poorest, they walked into riches. Their first inclination was to hide the fortune they had found but their conscience would not let them, there was goodness, there was love in the hearts. And so, they decided the king's men must know. They knew the situation of their people and couldn't keep everything for themselves. This is surely remarkable because there were dejected, many did not care if they lived or died, still these men thought of others.

It was a time of good tidings, just as it is today, in this season of Christmas. Many have nothing, many are lacking, as God allows us enter the camp of the Arameans; blessing the work of our hands ( salary bonuses, favours, contracts, business deals...etc), let us not take everything for ourselves and store up like the lepers initially did. Let us remember that we as Christians live not for self but for others. Let us bless others with what God has blessed us with in his goodness and mercy.

There is abundant reward in giving. I pray that as we remember our brothers and sisters who are in need, God will remember and surprise us with our hearts desires. In Jesus Name. Amen
