HORNET’S NEST

Luke 5:27-32
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
27 After that He went out and noticed a tax collector named Levi sitting in the tax booth, and He said to him, “Follow Me.” 28 And he left everything behind, and got up and began to follow Him.
29 And Levi gave a big reception for Him in his house; and there was a great crowd of tax collectors and other people who were reclining at the table with them. 30 The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling at His disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?” 31 And Jesus answered and said to them, “It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”

Have you ever been in the middle of a “Hornet’s nest? Now if you take this literally then you are thinking of an actual “Hornet’s nest where the Hornets are flying all around their hive made of mud and grass and they are very busy. Then if you get too close or disturb them then you better watch it! If you have ever had a sting from a Hornet you know what I mean. A few years ago I was trimming the bushes in my front yard and when I started to trim up a particular one, I did not know there was a huge Hornets Nest in the middle of it. When I disturbed it I was in trouble! I was swarmed by the hornets and I started to get stung and could not move fast enough. By the time I got out of there and got in the house I had 21 stings and I was a hurting pretty bad! But, I finally sucked it up and went back out took care of the issue and got rid of the nest! But, I now always check the middle of the bushes first!

Hornet’s Nest: a large amount of activity, trouble, hostility, or animosity. This definition for a "Hornets Nest" refers to a situation you are in and the atmosphere. That is the type of atmosphere that I work in everyday. Now I am not saying that I am in a horrible situation or that I am being treated badly or anything like that. But, I work on site with our largest and best customer so I can be there to help them with what ever they need right away. So if being right in the middle of the situation, weather it is hard and unpleasant or not is the best place to be! That way I can help them properly, and they do treat me with respect.

So, how are you supposed to serve your Lord in the manner He leads you and how do you make a real difference? You need to follow the example of Jesus Christ. He loves you, I and everyone so much that He came to this world, walked in our shoes and did not deviated from the plans our Father God had for Him. Even though He was treated badly, humiliated, tortured, and crucified on the cross He did it all for us, to make a difference. He put himself in the middle of the "Hornets Nest" so He could make a difference for each of us, so we would come to salvation and go to heaven!

You need to follow His example because if you want to truly help and make a real difference you have to be in the middle of that "Hornets Nest!" That way you know what is needed, how to actually help others, you know how to treat them and be able to be there to help them through the tough decisions and times. You need to be right there to to help and make a difference like Jesus. He does not put you where you are to help other because they have everything they need, or have no issues and are already following Him. He puts you there to help those that are sick, in need and lost! So do not avoid going where He wants you to go, do not avoid going to a rough or bad area, per the worlds standards and do not avoid those people that may irritate you or make you feel uneasy. Because your Lord has faith in you to make a difference and you need to have faith in Him that He is there with you and has it all worked out! You just need to let Him! Do you want to make a real difference? Then jump right in the middle of that "Hornets Nest!

Have a Blessed Day!
