Identity theft is a major problem in the world today. However, identity theft began in the Garden of Eden when the devil stole the identity of Adam and Eve by puffing up their pride to become ‘know-it-alls’ and ‘lying’ them into eating the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:1-8).
Today, the devil is still lying to people and stealing their identity. Don’t let the devil lie to you and steal your identity by defining you by the your: skin color, sexuality, past, circumstances, salary, status, being forsaken by your mother and /or father, or anything contrary to the Word of God. A lyric from the song Sons and Daughters of God says, “When the lies speak louder than the Truth, God remind me that I belong to You!”
Take pride in who’s you are – God pride! Shout it out who you belong to - say it loud, I’m God’s and I’m proud! When the devil tries to lie to you remember - you are the sons and daughters of God! Scripture confirms, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God… The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ…” (Romans 8:14-17)
Our identity and our heart’s treasure are in Christ, who provides Holy Spirit security protection against identity theft and enables us to trust in God, our Father who we are made in the image of (Genesis 1:27)! “Because you are his sons (daughters), God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, ‘Abba, Father’.” (Galatians 4:6)
