Have you ever wondered what was Jesus writing here?

This tells me that even something irrelevant is more important to him than the accusations against me.

My script-writing professor back in college used to say all the time, “If you show something is because you’re going to use it further in the story.”

The same goes for the Bible. Everything in the Bible is there for reason. God has a purpose for every single thing (2 Timothy 3:16.) Therefore, the opposite is also truth. If a detail from a story was left out of the Bible, is because it is not important. If the Bible doesn’t give any detail of what was Jesus writing in the sand, is because it is irrelevant.

Here we see Jesus writing something in the sand while the scribes and the Pharisees yell at him. They yell accusations trying to get Jesus’ attention, but nothing. It doesn’t work. Jesus is too busy to pay attention. He is busy doing something irrelevant.

This tells me a lot about Jesus. This tells me that even something irrelevant is more important to him than the accusations against me. This tells me that Jesus prefers to “waste” his time doing something irrelevant than pay attention to the devil listing all of my sins and past mistakes. He doesn’t even care. It’s all forgiven.

It doesn’t matter how ugly or bad your mistakes are. Everything has been forgiven.

“You will cast all our[a] sins
into the depths of the sea.”
Micah 7:19
