It’s all about Jesus. That’s it. Jesus, along with the Father and the Spirit, from the beginning, laid out earth’s existence and created the heavens. And yet, we are told here they will perish. At the end of time, the entire world as we know it will be destroyed and a new heaven and a new earth will be created. In spite of all this cataclysmic destruction, God remains. He never changes. When this earth has served its earthly purpose completely, it will be folded up like a garment and change will come. But God remains just as He always is—loving, merciful, all powerful, all knowing, all seeing, glorious, radiant—the adjectives just go on and on. And He will not die or fail. At last His glorious purpose for all of us will be complete.

“You Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You remain; and they will all grow old like a garment; like a cloak You will fold them up, and they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will not fail.”
