Oh, Lord, I've "blown it" this time:
I've taken my eyes off of you,
And fussed and fumed at another,
Which as a Christian I never should do.
Jesus has set the example,
One I desire to follow each day,
But I let self-righteous anger
Come in and have its way.
I weakened in a time of stress,
And instead of turning to You,
I mishandled the situation,
Following a course I shouldn't pursue.
But I thank You for the Holy Spirit,
Who admonished me with love,
Asking me where was my Christian witness,
How had I represented my Father above?
"Pretty poorly" was my contrite confession,
And I need to set things right:
To apologize and ask forgiveness,
To make sure I'm reflecting Christ's light.
I wish I could say it won't happen again,
At least I pray it doesn't happen much;
Yet I know things can be set right again
As long as I yield to the Master's touch.
