Psalm 138:4
I often drive across Kansas and love seeing church steeples rising above the wheat fields and plains. One time as I was driving east on I-70, I was deeply upset about some issues in my life. In the distance I saw the twin towers of the Cathedral of the Plains in Victoria, Kansas. The words from the song "California Dreamin'" came to mind; "Stopped into a church I passed along the way, Got down on my knees and I began to pray". That is exactly what I did. I had stopped at this beautiful church before as a sightseer but that I day I stopped to pray. As I gazed at the colorful stained glass windows that illustrated stories from the life of Jesus, my mind became focused on Him instead of my troubles. As I prayed, God gave me new strength and comfort. I finished my prayers with Psalm 23 as I looked at the window of Jesus as the Good Shepherd who restores my soul. With peace and assurance in my heart, I continued my journey.
