What a personal Jesus we have, for those who know Him. A God, a Friend, a Mighty Conqueror who cares for the smallest details of our lives. There is nothing like Him, and no entity or force can ever push our Lord off His throne. His throne is eternal, and He is the source of our strength. Praise Him, for Christ found us first when we were lost.
You may think this title sounds inappropriate, but give me your time to explain its meaning. In truth, let the words of Scripture draw you closer. This passage is powerful and proof of an intimate God we serve.
In this short passage a blind man was brought before Jesus to be healed. Jesus healed many people that were written about in Scripture, but many more undocumented miracles happened according to John 21:25. This healing was unique, because it shows the intricate working of a very personal Savior, who knows the human body well.
Please look with me at verse 23. Jesus spit into the man's eyes. That must have got some strange looks from the disciples, but read on. Jesus asked the blind man, "do you see anything?"
Verse 24. The blind man's answer is awesome. He said, "I see men, for I see them like trees, walking around." Correct me if I am wrong, but that sound like distorted lenses of the eyes. They were being heal right in the man's head. He could actually see Jesus’ power restoring his sight.
Verse 25. For the miracle wasn't complete yet. Our great God could have spoken this man's eyes whole again, but why did Jesus have to lay hands on him again? Jesus laid his hands on the blind man's eyes then looked intently. Jesus was actually concentrating on this man’s welfare so that he could see again. Jesus was making a public spectacle of how He cares and physically touches those who are His, and those who are lost. No other man made fictional gods can claim such power or personal intimacy!
In mere moments this man could see perfectly. There is much more than a healing here. I see a loving God, my all-knowing ophthalmologist, who can heal me in the most caring ways. He has removed the horse blinders of sin and the subtle malaise in which a fallen world and our self inflicted pride can blind us.
I ask the reader, has Jesus spit in your eyes lately, so that you can see again? Is your pride distorting the way you serve your Lord? Do your spiritual eyes need healing at this moment?

Has Jesus spit in your eyes, so that you can see?
