Psalm 115:1
Life itself is like a center stage where drama, challenges, adventures and excitement unfolds. There is a highlight in every chapter of our lives. The thrill of getting married, the joy of giving birth to a new life, the challenges in raising kids, in pursuing a career or finding a job, the fame in every success, the pain in our sufferings, disappointments in every failure, grief in times of loss and the list goes on. In every event, we either witness a scene of celebration or a picture of mourning.
In our joyous times, we ought to praise and give credit to God and God alone for He is our Provider "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:8) and through our good works God will be glorified. What about in our times of suffering? In John chapter 9, when His disciples asked Jesus "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" Jesus answered them, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him" (John 9:2-3). Through our sufferings, God's power can be demonstrated as He works on our afflictions. He is our Great Physician! "As long as it is day, we must do the works of Him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world" (John 9:4-5). Then Jesus healed the blind man and God's glory has been manifested through him.
Therefore as the show (our life's journey) goes on we realize that it's not really all about us nor our achievements or sufferings, but it's all about God. All along the spotlight is on God, not on us. Things happen so that through all these circumstances. . . good and bad, God's glory can be seen. He is the light in our darkest moments (Psalm 18:28), the strength in our weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9), courage in our fear (Deuteronomy 31:6) and the source of comfort in all our troubles (2 Corinthians 1:4).
In the end, before the stage curtain rolls down let us stand and shout our praise and give all the glory and applause to the Great Performer in our lives, our God in the spotlight!
