Pastor Jack Hayford tells of a time he was driving in London with his wife when they were suddenly stopped in what appeared to be a traffic jam. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the Queen of England passed by on the open road before them in a long procession of vehicles with great pomp and splendor and -- well, majesty!

Yes, the One who first came into this world as a Man and died on a tree to save us from our sins (the Word God made flesh, John 1) will one day return to rule over it as Sovereign King.

People were getting out of their cars or stopping in the streets to watch the incredible spectacle, jubilant in the face of such a regal display, but all that Pastor Jack could think was: "This is nothing! It's not even worthy to be compared to what it will be like when Jesus is officially enthroned as King of all kings and Lord of all lords when He institutes His eternal kingdom on earth" (see Revelation 19:16).

Then the words started flowing and, sitting there watching the procession, Pastor Jack penned one of the great anthems of the church:

"Majesty
Worship His majesty!
Unto Jesus be all glory, honor and praise!
Majesty
Kingdom authority!
Jesus who died
Now glorified
King of all kings!
So exalt, lift up on high
The name of Jesus!
Magnify, come glorify
Christ Jesus the King!
Majesty
Worship His majesty!"

Jesus is the King of Glory, and one day He will bring His kingdom to earth and be enthroned over it. This is a promise that goes back thousands of years, such as when the prophet Isaiah foretold the first coming of Jesus the Eternal Son (God the Son) in His incarnation and also revealed His true identity: "Unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace; and of the increase of His government [kingdom on earth] and peace there will be no end" (Isaiah 9:6-7; see also Daniel 2 and 7). That's because Jesus will reign over His kingdom "with a rod of iron" referring to His Sovereign power and control (Psalm 2:9, Revelation 2:27).

Yes, the One who first came into this world as a Man and died on a tree to save us from our sins (the Word God made flesh, John 1) will one day return to rule over it as Sovereign King.

In that day, we are told that every knee will bow before Jesus and every tongue will confess that He is LORD OF ALL! This is why all true believers say, along with the Apostle John: "Even so, come, Lord Jesus!" (Revelation 22:20).

For now, this is an invisible kingdom in that it exists in the spiritual realm and within the hearts of all true believers where Christ has already been enthroned. But one day when Jesus returns, His kingdom will be made manifest throughout all the world. Only then will the earth at last be filled with peace, love and righteousness, and as His subjects we will sing another anthem of the church as we crown the Lord Jesus with many crowns and hail Him as our God, Redeemer and King forevermore:

"Crown Him with many crowns, the Lamb upon His throne.
Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing of Him who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King through all eternity.

Crown Him the virgin’s Son, the God incarnate born,
Whose arm those crimson trophies won which now His brow adorn;
Fruit of the mystic rose, as of that rose the stem;
The root whence mercy ever flows, the Babe of Bethlehem.

Crown Him the Lord of life, who triumphed over the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife for those He came to save.
His glories now we sing, who died, and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.

Crown Him the Lord of peace, whose power a scepter sways
From pole to pole, that wars may cease, and all be prayer and praise.
His reign shall know no end, and round His piercèd feet
Fair flowers of paradise extend their fragrance ever sweet.

Crown Him the Lord of Heaven, enthroned in worlds above,
Crown Him the King to Whom is given the wondrous name of Love.
Crown Him with many crowns, as thrones before Him fall;
Crown Him, ye kings, with many crowns, for He is King of all.

Crown Him the Lord of lords, who over all doth reign,
Who once on earth, the incarnate Word, for ransomed sinners slain,
Now lives in realms of light, where saints with angels sing
Their songs before Him day and night, their God, Redeemer, King.

Crown Him the Lord of years, the Potentate of time,
Creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime.
All hail, Redeemer, hail! For Thou has died for me;
Thy praise and glory shall not fail throughout eternity."
