THE UNFORGIVEN

Mark 11:25 ESV

And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

In doing a little research about “The Unforgiven” there was a 1960 movie starring Burt Lancaster, a 1992 movie starring Clint Eastwood, and also many other movies and songs with this title. There are also quite a few movies about people who hunt down someone who has done them wrong, or a family member was killed by them or had something bad done to them. And that person just cannot forget or forgive the person who committed these atrocities against them. They will never forget and the ones they are tracking down they will always be unforgiven. This is not just a premise for a movie, this is something that happens in real life way too often. People have a hard time forgiving someone, and sometimes it is even worse when it is a family member. More families have been separated for far too long because of this kind of stubbornness.

Now, read the verse above again. And look into the rear view mirror of your life for a moment, and think about the things you have done, the sins you have committed. Then remember the forgiveness you received and still do receive on a daily basis from your Father God, because Jesus Christ suffered and died for you! Do you deserve to be forgiven? How can God forgive your trespasses if you can't forgive others?

Holding on to things like revenge and being obsessed about finding who did you wrong is extremely unhealthy. It will eat you up emotionally, physically and spiritually. Let it go, give it to the Lord and enjoy the forgiveness you have in Jesus Christ.

Remember, “The Unforgiven” could easily be every one of us!

Have a Blessed Day!
