Once we have received Christ as our Savior, we are to walk in Him and as He directs us. He is the vine, and we are the branches, rooted into Him and built up in. He establishes us in the faith we have, and through it all we are to express our thankfulness to Him for all He is and for all He has done for us. We are no longer to rely on ourselves and our limited abilities to get us through this life, but to draw strength from Him, just as a tree’s branches draw strength from its roots. When we do this, we will have abounding thankfulness and joy in our hearts at the great work He will accomplish in our lives.

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”
