Do you have trouble loving people? I sure do. People, me included, are just so…unlovable. We all have far too many faults, foibles, and just plain sin in our lives to make us lovable on too many occasions. But what are we told here? First of all we are to imitate God. As a human child wants so much to be like daddy or mommy, so we are exhorted to be like God. Not just in some things, but in all things. If we do this, we will have love, not the earthly love of phileo (friendship) or eros (sexual), but agape, the love of God and His Son Jesus, that would do anything for anyone at any time, even to giving up one’s life for another. Can we attain that in this life and in this sin filled world? In theory, I believe so, but it will take true obedience to God and His word to achieve and to practice faithfully for Satan will throw up issues constantly to deter us from following the right path. Have I attained this agape love? No, but I desire to do so, and I pray you do, also.

“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.”
