Matthew 6:19; Psalms 73:26
Every day we are growing old, our physical bodies are getting weaker and older. Same thing with all our earthly possessions, our house, car, clothes, jewelries and money. . . certainly, they won't last forever. Did we ever realize that we are so vulnerable that anytime could be our last moment here on earth (our temporary home)? These material things even our own physical being will soon wither and die, then it only means that they are not the most important possessions we have on our journey here on earth. Because one that lasts forever are eternal and cannot be bought by anything from this world. Once our earthly missions were over and God's will on us were fulfilled, the Lord will just require us of one thing. . .our soul. God won't ask us whether we had a big or small house, abundant or insufficient bank accounts nor He won't ask of the brands of the clothing, jewelries and all other material things that we had. He wouldn't inquire either whether we are famous or just an ordinary people during our lifetime. What really matters to Him is how we spent the precious life He had given us. He is very eager to know whether we knew Him that well.
Therefore we should start asking ourselves now, what is our main priorities in life? If we are giving too much importance to the things of the earth then we should start transforming our lives now into something more valuable by seeking God's help and surrendering our very life unto Him. Even our Lord Jesus Christ lived in humility and poverty and surrendered to the will of God. "Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross"(Philippians 2:6-8). "Though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich" (2 Corinthians 8:9).
At the end of each day, what truly matters to God is the purity of our conscience, our unwavering faith and the richness of our soul.
