1 Peter 2:9
Cinderella is a well know fairy tale character with a rags to riches story. Her story ends ‘happily-ever-after’ when she marries Prince Charming. The name Cinderella is often used when a team is considered an underdog or highly unfavored to win, with all the odds stacked against them.
We believers have a rags (Isaiah 64:6) to riches (Philippians 4:19) biblical story that ends happily-ever-after with the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) – Jesus. To others, we believers may be considered the ‘Cinderella’ team of religion, but we are really blessed and highly favored with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3).
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)
Scripture also describes us as sons and daughters of the King and heirs to the Kingdom (1 Timothy 6:15, Romans 8:15-17, Galatians 4:6-7). Adoption into the Kingdom of God is the highest privilege that the gospel offers because it brings us into the intimate relationship with God our ‘Abba Father’, our loving Father who reigns with His Son - King Jesus - in heaven.
The Word of God is written about life in King Jesus, a true story about royalty, with a ‘happily- ever-after-for-eternity’ ending for believers who are His heirs in the royal family of the Kingdom of God. In the end, believers are part of the royal wedding (Revelation 19:7-16) and new life “where there is no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelations 21:1-5)!
